From Market Entry to National Footprint: BT Industries Accelerates Renewable Energy Market Penetration
BT Industries’ renewable energy growth strategy is gaining momentum as the business builds on its initial market entry and expands its footprint nationally.
Following its entry into the renewable energy market with a range of solar rails, fasteners, components and accessories, BT Industries announced its partnership with Tsingshan Group at the Solar & Storage Live Africa exhibition in March 2026, extending its offering to include Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for the South African market.
The first BESS units arrived in South Africa in July, while the BT Industries growth team and its strategic partners have continued to develop the supply partnerships and financial vehicles required to support a growing pipeline of strategic projects over the coming years.
Now, the arrival of further BESS units, together with solar rails, fasteners and accessories, represents another step forward in the execution of this growth plan.
Importantly, BT Industries is investing ahead of its sales plan – deliberately building the stockholding and supply capability required to support its strategic partners and committed projects.
“We are growing in a systematic and planned manner to ensure that, as our market penetration increases, we remain able to deliver on our promise to our strategic partners and projects: Confidence of supply. Peace of mind. Always,” says Hilton Loring, Strategic Growth Executive at BT Industries.
The approach reflects the deliberate way in which BT Industries has entered and developed this market.
Initial seeding stock of solar rails, fasteners, components and accessories was introduced in KwaZulu-Natal, allowing the team to work closely with a select group of customers, understand market requirements and gather practical feedback. This was followed by months of engagement and product sampling as BT Industries established the foundations for broader market penetration.
Today, the business is extending that footprint nationally, while the first BESS DOGO unit sites are also going live in South Africa.
“We have been very deliberate about how we enter and grow within this market,” says Vanessa Chetty, Divisional Head: Renewable Energy at BT Industries. “The first phase gave us the opportunity to get our products into customers’ hands, listen carefully to the market and make sure that our approach was right. We have done that foundational work and are excited to now welcome more national customers on this journey with us.”
BT Industries is driving this growth through a selected base of strategic partners, rather than pursuing volume for volume’s sake. The business is building a focused portfolio of relationships within the commercial and industrial renewable energy sector, applying an approach that has served it well in other demanding markets: deeply understand customer requirements, plan around forecast demand, and build the supply capability required to support their growth.
As an Integrated Distribution Partner, this approach is fundamental to how BT Industries creates value. Its renewable energy strategy is not simply about supplying products; it is about developing long-term partnerships, aligning supply with anticipated demand and creating greater certainty and continuity of supply for the customers and projects it supports.
The foundational work has established a strong market base. With strategic partnerships developing, projects coming online, an expanding national footprint and stock being positioned ahead of anticipated demand, BT Industries’ renewable energy growth plan is gaining strong momentum.
The focus now is firmly on national execution, strategic market share growth and enduring customer partnerships.
Confidence of supply. Peace of mind. Always.
